Welcome to the Meet the Commissioner Page.
Marty Melton
Our own Marty Melton, longtime BeJ member, and Past President of The B’nai B’rith Great Lakes Region of Michigan has served for the past 36 years as the B’nai B’rith International Athletic Chairman. Marty is responsible for creating the amazingly successful B'nai B'rith Softball, Basketball and VolleyBall Leagues in the Great Lakes Region. Marty started the Softball League 35 years ago, in 1973. Volleyball was also started the same year. The Basketball League was started shortly thereafter, in 1976, and has been running strong for 32 years now. Marty’s pride and joy is in all the leagues, in which he was a former player and manager as well. Marty is well-known for his loyalty and committment to B'nai B'rith, and his pride in membership recruitment, and maintaining 100% paid-up members in his leagues is well documented, and impressive! A couple of Marty's highlights include starting the B'nai B'rith Men's vs BBYO annual All-Star Softball games, helping the BBYO basketball League set-up it's permanent venue at the Jewish Community Center, starting the B'nai Brith Int'l Tournament, and being able to attend the first B'nai B'rith Humanitarian Mission to Cuba. Marty is honored to have been able to serve B'nai B'rith for almost four decades, and considers the organization like a second family. We're happy and proud to have Marty as one of our own.
